Glaciology Research Group
Introduction
The cryosphere has gained
increased
attention spotlighted by recently observed increased decline in
extent and volume of glaciers, permafrost and sea ice world-wide, and their
related environmental and socio-economic implications. Our research aim at
identifying and advance the understanding of the key processes in climate-driven
glacier changes and use these findings for quantitative prediction of future
glacier changes and their impact on global sea level and regional water resources.
We have recently been focusing on mass balance modeling using energy-balance
models on both local and global scale, core studies for climate reconstructions,
and understanding and predicting climate-driven changes in glacier thermo-
and flow dynamics. Some of our field sites include; Svalbard, Swedish mountains,
Antarctica, Iceland, and Andes.
