Air, Water and Landscape Sciences

Welcome to the program of Air, Water and Landscape Sciences!

Air, Water and Landscape Science is the largest of the five programs at the Department of Earth Sciences. It comprises the research subjects Hydrology, Meteorology, Physical Geography and Environmental Analysis.

We study the fundamentals of atmospheric, hydrological and landscape formation processes as well as their interaction with human activity. The objective is to develop improved theoretical frameworks and models that can be used to test hypotheses and help resolve applied problems. The model development has strong linkages to physical experiments in the field and laboratory. The applications range from environmental pollution and nuclear waste disposal to energy research and effects of climate change.
