Human activities have affected and are still affecting many lakes, rivers and coastal areas. Some environmental problems caused by man are, e.g., acidification, eutrophication, overfishing and toxic pollution.
The researchers of the aquatic environmental analysis group at the Department of Earth Sciences, Uppsala University work to achieve a better understanding of how lakes, rivers and coastal areas function.
Our tools for this are different types of models which are based on ecosystem processes and abiotic and biotic relationships that have been observed by us or other scientists.
