Trial lecture for appointment as a docent by Gabriele Messori: Mid-Latitude Weather Extremes in Future Climates

The Department of Earth Sciences hereby invites all interested to a docentship lecture in Meteorology.

Anthropogenic emissions and activities affect our climate. We are already seeing the consequences in the current climate, and we expect to see much larger changes in the future. These will have implications for both the mean climate and extreme weather occurrences.

In this lecture, I will present some possible future climate scenarios and their implications for extreme weather occurrences. I will specifically focus on weather in the mid-latitudes and on extremes relevant for Sweden and Europe.

The lecture is an obligatory teaching test for those applying for admittance as docent and it should be possible for students and others with basic academic education in the relevant field to follow it. The lecture will last for 45 minutes and afterwards the audience may ask questions. The lecture will be given in Swedish.
