CNDS, Centrum för naturkatastroflära, är värd för ett forskningsseminarium som ska försöka besvara frågan - "How is the ongoing volcanic eruption in La Palma connected with the most recent flooding event in Germany?"

Föreläsare under dagen är Abigail Barker, forskare i mineralogi, petrologi och tektonik och Gabriele Messori, universitetslektor i meteorologi, båda från institutionen för geovetenskaper, Uppsala universitet.

Steffi Burchardt, universitetslektor i mineralogi, petrologi och tektonik är är moderator.

15:15 Presentation (20 mins) by Emma Rodhes about her PhD work on “How studying an ancient magma chamber can inform disaster risk reduction (DRR) in active volcanic areas” (followed by a brief Q/A session).

15:40 Recent events in Europe: Invited talks Abigail Barker (20 mins) on the ongoing volcanic eruption in La Palma Gabriele Messori (20 mins) on climate change and the recent floods in Germany
