Barack Obama's proposal that was announced last year will finally be realized: Carbon emission will be cut 30% from 2005 levels by 2030.

Obama had previously failed getting his proposal through congress. Now he turned to the Environmental Protection Agency with a presidential decree.

The new regulations will primarily limit the pollution from roughly 600 ageing power plants that produce almost half of the carbon emission in the US.
