The Erken laboratory

The Erken laboratory is a lab run by the Department of Ecology and Genetics. The laboratory is also part of the Swedish National Infrastructure for Ecosystem Research SITES. The lake has an area 23.7 km2 and is located 50 km east of Uppsala. At the Malma Island in the eastern part of the lake the meteorology group at the Department of Earth Sciences operates an instrumented tower. The tower is instrumented with instrumentation for direct estimation of fluxes of carbon dioxide, methane and water vapour, as well as the sensible heat flux. Additional instrumentation helps us determine mean meteorological parameters such as wind speed and direction and the vertical temperature profile.

Current measurements can be seen here.
